Here we are, the first week of April! I wish it felt more like Spring. Regardless, we're moving forward with introducing a variety of classroom activities associated with the Spring season, including some plant-inspired art and a garden in our Dramatic Centre this week (see photo below). In the coming weeks, we'll have worms at our Science table and will plant green bean and flowers seeds. These are just a few of the fun projects happening in our classroom this month!

Last week, we completed our "Splatter Painting" inspired by famous artist Jackson Pollock. I took photos of all the children participating and they will be posted shortly in our class' March Photo Album. I'm keeping this one-of-a-kind work of art hidden until our Spring Fundraiser. You'll be able to bid on it at the silent auction on April 6! It will make a great addition to a children's playspace or bedroom! The class is very excited to share it with you!
This week's Famous Artists piece is inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's still life painting called Tournesols, also known in English as Sunflowers. I think you're all familiar with the original shown below.

Ms. Michelle will return for another enrichment session of Dance on Tuesday.
There have been a lot of strong emotions in our classroom recently. This is a normal and essential part of children's development and a great opportunity for me to guide them in healthy management of these emotions. So, this Friday, I am going to introduce some new methods of mindfulness practices. Deep breathing is a practice we often use throughout our mornings together. I have found this to be an effective technique for a lot of the children, but I feel it's time for them to learn more simple practices such mindful listening and guided imagery.
