Oct 12 - 16
I hope you were all able to spend time with your families this Thanksgiving weekend. Although this holiday looked a lot different this year, we can still find ways to be pleased and grateful for all we have. I have a lot to be thankful for - my family, friends, health, and the opportunity to spend my mornings with your children. I look forward to the weeks ahead this school year!
Last week, our Art activities had a heavy focus on nature and Fall. The children were engrossed in creating art pieces using leaves and tree branches! We will extend this theme with more Fall-inspired Art creations this week.
During Friday's Circle Time, we did our first Science experiment of the year. The children learned how two simple ingredients, baking soda and vinegar, cause a chemical reaction. Some of the children said they would like to try this again at home, so I've added instructions for this experiment here:
The past couple of weeks, we introduced the children to mixing colours. I have noticed them extending this learning through their easel paintings, so I figured we should continue with this concept! This Thursday, we will do a colour-mixing experiment during Circle Time. The book Mouse Paint, by Ellen Walsh, will guide us through this activity.
