Week of Apr 13 - 17

Last week, I introduced a new unit on Spring to the children. Our Science table featured a Signs of Spring theme, where the children explored materials and objects connecting to the changing season. They also participated in a fun hands-on activity by decorating their own birdhouses. As soon as we get a warm day, we'll head outdoors to perch them in some of the trees on the school grounds. We also dyed flowers, giving the children a chance to observe how plants absorb water and nutrients. Tomorrow, we'll revisit the results of this experiment to see how the flowers have changed.

This week, we'll expand on our Spring unit by introducing worms into our classroom. 28 creepy crawlers will be the highlight of our Science table! Of course, the worms will be kept safely in a clear container, where the the children will get to explore them from there. They'll also learn about soil, decomposition and the important role worms playing in helping plants grow. Who knows what other Spring creatures might be waiting to say hello next!

To add to our Spring unit, our pretend play area will be transformed into a magical garden where our busy little gardeners can pretend to grow and harvest plants.

Ms Maggie will join us for our Yoga & Mindfulness session on Monday.

On Wednesday, we'll head out to Runnymede Public Library for our first field trip of the season.
