Last week's colourful art work inspired by Henri Matisse's The Sheaf.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the long weekend and is ready to get back into a routine tomorrow!
We'll start the week of with Dance Enrichment on Tuesday.
Wassily Kandinsky's Colour Study, Squares with Concentric Circles is our famous art piece of focus this week. Watercolour, gouache and crayon were used to produce one of Kandinsky's most popular works. Our class will use a simplified method to create our versions of the piece. Circle cut-outs in various, bright colours and sizes will be glued onto black construction paper. The vibrancy of the circles against the dark background will create visual contrast.

Chinese New Year starts Feb 17. I recently picked up a book about this holiday that illustrates the traditions and celebrations that take place during time. The class will also be working on painting a large-scale Chinese New Year dragon.
Another important holiday which begins Feb 17 is Ramadan. The significance of this month of the Islamic calendar will be shared through a story that teaches about this Muslim celebration.
