Week of Feb 2-6

Last week, the children worked on creating art pieces inspired by Piet Mondrian. Even though the colours got muddy, I appreciate the focus they put into their work. And, I kind of prefer the dark that they all look different.

This week, we'll move on to re-creating Matisse's collage piece called The Snail. I have to admit this is not one of my favourite works of Matisse, but I feel the colours and simplicity of design will capture the children's attention and could be super fun to create.

OK, moving on! February is already here and as most people would agree, it is not one of the best months of the year. BUT, I think this February is going to be a solid one! There are actually quite a few meaningful holidays and events happening over the next few weeks. First up is the start of the Winter Olympics! I am excited to introduce them to some hands-on activities that will teach them about the various sports and customs of the Winter Games. From art projects to relay races, we'll cover a selection of creative Olympics-inspired learning. Holidays of importance that we will discover and recognize this month are Lunar New Year and Ramadan. And of course, we can't leave out Valentine's Day!

We'll have Dance Enrichment of Tuesday and last week's Yoga class that was cancelled due to the Snow Day is on Wednesday.

I love this week's well-rounded program plan and am eager to get working on it. Please see below.
